Remembrance 2018 Events

Wreath Laying at the NMA on Sunday 4th November

The Regimental Secretary and his wife, Patricia, were joined by approx. 20 association members at our memorial in the NMA on Sunday 4th November. This was an excellent turn out compared to previous years.

A wreath was laid at the memorial in memory of all Hussars who lost their lives in past wars and conflict, as well as those members who have sadly passed away in the last year.

Crosses were laid on behalf of each of our regional troops and also in memory of Cpl Jack Stanley, the last Hussar to be killed on operations.

Regimental Association Weekend – Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November

The annual Association Dinner was held on Saturday 10th November in Birmingham and attended by 98 association members and serving officers and soldiers. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham was represented by the Deputy Lord Mayor.

After the dinner, a raffle and auction was held in support of the museum. A total of £635.56 was raised on the night. Our sincere thanks goes to all those who donated prizes, participated and gave so generously. Particular thanks goes to Andy Milton who, yet again, organised and conducted the raffle and auction in his own inimitable style (ably aided by his glamorous assistant Ally Knott).

The Association participated in the City of Birmingham Service of Remembrance on Sunday 11th November. The Colonel of the Regiment laid a wreath on behalf of the Regimental Association and a marching contingent of approximately 100 members, by far the largest contingent on parade, proudly marched passed the saluting dais.

The parade was followed by the Association Lunch and football and rugby challenge matches with the West Midlands Police. The lunch was attended by 66 association members and serving officers and soldiers. Unfortunately, the Regiment lost both matches 5-2 and 24-0 respectively.
